The Do’s and the Don’ts: The Few Days Before a Disney World Vacation

You got it all planned out. Your FastPasses are made, the plane tickets are bought, the dining reservations are made, you bought your tickets for Disney, and have planned out everything else to make your Walt Disney World trip possible. The last few days before you visit the “most magical place on earth” can be very hard. You feel like there is nothing else to do, but there are actually a few things you can do to prepare for your vacation. However, there are some things you should not do.

Do: Check the 10 day forecast. Sometimes Florida can be mean. It can send you absolutely awful weather (while usually it is just wonderful). If it happens to be a little chilly one day, you want to be prepared. You do not want to be like my family and be absolutely miserable because you did not dress appropriately for the day’s weather(It was like 50 degrees with no sunshine one day; it was crazy)!

Don’t: Wait to pack everything at the last mintue. I suggest to start packing one or one and a half weeks before your vacation. Make a list of everything you are going to need while there and then check it off one by one. Also, if early packing for you means deciding all your outfits you are bringing, go for it. Even if it might be something small, start packing early.

Do: Look for dining reservations at the last minute. If you have not found a certain reservation, this is one of the best times to look for them. People visiting Disney World often cancel their reservations not too long before they are visiting. Keep your eyes wide for reservations and check many times a day. If you do not have luck, keep checking, even when you are down in Florida, especially the day or two before you are planning to visit that certain Disney Park(or resort). You could obviously not get the reservation you want, but I still recommend to do this.

Don’t: Forgot the traveling and in-Park essentials\ to go shopping. I love shopping in general but going shopping for vacation is even more fun! You may or may not need to go shopping,  but you most likely do for traveling to Florida and exploring the Parks. You want to be prepared for everything, so make sure you have everything you need for both the traveling part and the Disney part. Some things you may need while traveling or being at the Parks are sunscreen, Advil, tissues, gum, a mini umbrella, new sunglasses if your like me(because I often lose or break them while on vacation), and anything else you think you will need. Don’t forgot to pack all this in your backpack, preferably in your Disney backpack if you have one. Having all this handy will make everything so much easier, so please go shopping (if needed) and pack this stuff.

Do: Watch a few Disney movies before you go. Watching Disney movies can get you extra excited. Pick a few of your favorites, and maybe plan to watch one everyday until your vacation for about a week. You could also have a “themed” movie night based on one of the movies. For an example, if you decided to watch Beauty and the Beast one night, you could have croissants, cheese(since they often have different kinds of cheese in France), macarons, the “grey stuff” (like a cupcake with gray icing to make it simple) from Beauty and the Beast, or whatever else you can think of. Anyway, this is a very fun way to get excited for your vacation whether you just watch a couple Disney movies or have a themed-Disney night!

Don’t: Worry!!! Even though it can be so exciting you are visiting Walt Disney World, you can also start to worry about your vacation. I say do not worry, or it may take away all the fun out of your vacation. Relax because you are about to go on vacation, and they are meant to be fun. One of the reasons people go on vacations is get away from stress, so do not stress. Enjoy yourself, have fun, smile, take pictures, enjoy spending time with your family members, and enjoy every moment at your vacation at the “most magical place on earth!”

After completing all this, all you have to do is wait for the magic to happen, which is probably just around the corner. If you are visiting Walt Disney World soon, I hope this has helped you, and if you are interested in reading my post about the do’s and the don’ts while you are on vacation(and a bit of the planning process), click here!
